In January 2008 fourteen communities (blue on the map below) were selected to conduct local level assessments and develop strategic plans for the prevention and reduction of underage drinking. These same communities received funding to implement evidence-based prevention strategies in January 2009, with continued implementation currently in progress.
In November of 2011, four new communities (green on the map below) were selected to receive funding as part of the SPF Mentoring Initiative. These new 'mentee' communities will be matched with a 'mentor', one of the previously funded communities to conduct a needs assessment and implement low or no-cost environmental strategies to impact a targeted influencing factor. In addition, each mentoring relationship will have a 'coach' to support their work.
